About Daktari Gemini

Dear Reader:
One of my hobbies is reading. I am also writing several books about Africa and my life and work as a surgical educator on that continent. Because of that interest I read a lot about Africa, often on while traveling to or within Africa. I am frequently asked by surgeons working for the Canadian Network for International Surgery. to recommend books about Africa and also am frequently told by many about mediocre books about Africa that they think are good. So here are books about Africa with my rating. Feel free to disagree.

The motivation for this blog was the book “Dead Aid”. Its weaknesses had be exposed. But I would like both Africans and those who are not Africans to learn more about this fascinating continent. But within the context of critical thinking.

My real name for those who have reached this far is Dr. Ronald Lett. I have the double life as a Canadian who has spent most of his surgical career in Africa. I was also born in June so I am a Gemini both by calendar and life. So enjoy Daktari Gemini. I am enjoying re-reading these books for the purpose of posting my opinions.
